The History and Evolution of Bucktons Bird Feed
The Bucktons brand was founded over 200 years ago when George Buckton started a general merchants company. From there, Bucktons slowly started their nutritional journey and, along the way, grew into a renowned bird feed supplier. They're now known for their quality bird seed mixes for multiple species of parrots and aviary birds.
After George Buckton founded Bucktons, the brand soon had a new owner by 1918. The Hutchinson family owned Bucktons, and 40+ years later, in the 1960s, they decided that Bucktons should jump head first into the pet industry, more specifically, quality seed mixes for birds. After the decision to focus on birds and seeds, Bucktons began to build relationships with suppliers and work on perfecting their products.
Again, in 1995, Bucktons found a new owner. This time it was Cranswick Pet Products. The Bucktons name never changed and the success of the company continued to grow.
In 2012, the brand was sold to Westland Horticulture. Since then, Westland has focused on growing the Bucktons brand, working for change, all while remembering their core principles, and maintaining their passion for producing delicious seed mixes for pet birds and parrots.
But one of the brand's most exciting changes of all, in recent years (2015 to be exact), is that Bucktons introduced a new range of parrot food containing Spiralife. Spiralife is found exclusively in Bucktons brand bird food and contains lots of important nutrients and vitamins to enhance plumage, aid in a bird's immune and digestive systems, and help maintain a parrot’s eyesight.
